EASTLAKE, Ohio – If the guy pictured in the accompanying photo looks angry in his mugshot, frankly, he has good reason to be.
The guy is Richard (known as Ricky) Adams, 20, of Eastlake, Ohio…where they apparently have a funny way of taking care of alleged sex offenders. Which is to say, they “take care” of them, something akin to coddling, to the average observer.
Here’s what’s happened that’s caused us to come to this conclusion – it’s probably premature, authorities probably have a good stinking reason for the way this developed, but still…stay with me on this.
This past Thursday, March 21, 2019, Mr. Adams entered an Eastlake home (reports don’t indicate whose house this was, might’ve been Adams’, who knows; it appears reports are staying purposely vague) and found a 17-year-old male in the act of committing fellatio with a 5-year-old boy. I’m not going to describe it any further; if you have to look that big word up, feel free, but I’m not inclined to get any more descriptive.
Like any rational human with a shred of decency would do, Mr. Adams is reported to have pulled the 17-year-old off the child…and the proceeded to beat the daylights out of the teen.
We’re not told whether the alleged perp or the vic was related to Adams (although chances are good that one or both were), nor the circumstances under which the cops were called (we’re not told whether Adams called them, whether the beaten sex offender-wannabe called them; heck, for all we know, the 5-year-old might’ve called them). Most people I know wouldn’t have made a call to police after such an incident. The coroner, maybe. But that’s just the company I keep.
Anyway, the popo arrived, tales were related, and guess what…? Adams was arrested for felony battery. Now, to be fair, the 17-year-old has been charged with rape. But seriously…prosecutors probably should just let this charge against Ricky Adams go. Especially if that little boy was a relative of Adams.
Interestingly, Adams’ uncle set up a GoFundMe page for the young man…with a $50,000 goal, which as of this writing (Sunday, March 24) they were more than halfway to, with over $26,000 in and growing by 10 p.m. They want to hire a great criminal defense attorney, and for that amount, they certainly can.
